QNSA is having its first meeting of 2012 on JANUARY 18, 2012 at 5:30 PM at the Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre (146 Barrie Street).

We will be discussing meeting times for this semester, our next social, and most importantly: ABORIGINAL AWARENESS WEEK (March 19-24th).

“The Mushuau Innu. Surviving Canada” Screening

This Thursday, November 24, Canadian Lawyers Abroad (CLA) is presenting the documentary “The Mushuau Innu. Surviving Canada”. It looks at the 1993 Canadian Human Rights Commission’s report which found that the Federal government had been in violation of the Innu’s constitutional rights for more than 50 years, and explores the devastating impact these violations have had on the Innu and their future as a people.

It will be at 6:00pm in room 001. Food will be provided (pizza!). We will watch the documentary (about 45min in length) and also talk about some of the internship opportunities CLA offers both internationally and in Canada’s north.

Thank you everyone for coming out to the Queen’s Pow Wow. Despite the wind, we prevailed and had a great day!

Wednesday Oct 12, 2011 at 6:00 we will be having a QNSA meeting.

We will be talking about the date of AAW and we will have a guest speaker.

Heidi Penning from Queen’s Equity Office will be speaking at the beginning of the meeting for about 15-20 minutes about university and Aboriginal student relationships. This is incredibly important to catch you up on the work we did last year and the work that still has to be done.

Also, we will be deciding date of our first social! And, we will decide on activities .

Welcome back to Queen’s!

I am the new President of the QNSA, Danielle Fostey. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday Sept 21 at 6:15 at the Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre.

If you are interested in becoming an exec or getting involved, please come and meet myself and the new Vice-President, Emilie Bouffard. We will be discussing Aboriginal Awareness Week and planning a social for everyone to meet.
